Frequently Asked Questions
  • Can you airbnb in Vail?

Yes. Vail has lots of Airbnb options for every budget and preference.

  • Is Vail, Colorado expensive?

Yes. Vail, Colorado consistently ranks as one of the most expensive ski destinations in North America.

  • Is it safe in Vail, Colorado?

I felt very safe during my trip to Vail. But, as with any destination, you need to take precautions to keep yourself safe. Don’t walk by yourself at night, stay in a secure and well-located hotel or vacation home, use slash-proof, lockable, and RFID-protected bags and purses, and always have a charged cell phone with you.

  • Which is nicer Aspen or Vail?

Aspen and Vail are both incredible destinations, and they will each give you very different experiences.

Vail is usually more popular, expensive, and crowded than Aspen, and Charleston has more of a European “vibe.”

Aspen is traditionally less-visited with a “chiller” vibe than Vail. Both cities have fantastic skiing, winter sports, restaurants, and outdoor activities, so I highly recommend visiting both of these places!

  • Is Vail, Colorado worth visiting?

Yes! Vail, Colorado, is an incredible ski destination with awesome snow activities and events.

  • What is the best time to visit Vail Colorado?

November – April is Ski Season. These months average 300 inches of annual snowfall and daytime temps in the upper 20s. Temperatures are warmest in November and April, so some ski runs won’t be open during these two months.

Ski Season has peak prices and tourist numbers. So if you’re on a budget, avoid weekends and holidays, and go near the beginning or end of the season.

Vail is a very budget-friendly destination from May – October. Daytime temperatures will only peak in the low 70s in July, so you’ll want layers for the mornings and evenings.

While Vail is known for its skiing and snow activities, there’s incredible hiking, golfing, and fishing here in the non-ski months.

  • Where do you fly into for Vail?

The closest airports to Vail are Eagle Regional Airport about 30 miles west of Vail (around a 40-minute drive) and Denver International Airport about 120 miles east of Vail (around a two-hour drive).

  • Is Vail crowded in the summer?

Yes. Vail is relatively crowded in the summer months, so book in advance to save some money and ensure availability.
