Staying at The Oasis At Death Valley: the best hotel in Death Valley, CA

Thanks to The Oasis At Death Valley for hosting me during my stay. As always, the thoughts and opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Death Valley is one of my favorite U.S. National Parks. But to truly enjoy a trip to this California desert, you need to stay in one of the two Oasis At Death Valley resorts – either The Inn At Death Valley or The Ranch At Death Valley.

These resorts are true oases, offering comfort, luxury, and a place to cool off during the day without leaving the national park. On my first trip to Death Valley, I opted to stay at The Ranch At Death Valley, and I couldn’t have made a better decision for my trip.

Here’s my experience staying at The Oasis at Death Valley!

The Ranch At Death Valley

The Ranch has an authentic Western vibe, a tribute to its origins in the 1930s. This property is the perfect combination of a dude ranch and a national park lodge, with a fantastic Spanish Colonial Revival town square welcoming you to the property.

This resort features 224 rooms, along with a spring-fed pool, golf course, tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, playground, horseback rides, carriage tours, four dining options, a General Store, gas station, Post Office, and RV and tent camping.

Xanterra Travel Collection owns the Oasis At Death Valley, so you’re guaranteed an elegant, tranquil, sustainable, and fantastic experience.

The overall atmosphere of the property is historic, welcoming, and fun. And the amenities and features of the hotel offer a traditional but luxurious feel. There’s no better place to stay in Death Valley than at The Ranch or The Inn.

The Rooms

The Ranch at Death Valley has a range of accommodation choices. There are double queen Standard Rooms in the two-story buildings towards the back of the property with balconies or patios. Then you’ve got the double queen or king Deluxe Rooms located in single-story buildings towards the front of the resort with a patio and parking right outside your door.

You can also rent cabins here. The cabins are in single-story duplexes near the registration and reception area. Then you’ve got the Fiddler’s Campground for RVs and tent camping. Guests of the Fiddler’s Campground have full access to the Ranch At Death Valley’s pool, Wi-Fi, and other amenities.

Food & Drink

The Ranch has lots of food and dining options. There’s the General Store for quick grab-and-go food, along with ice, souvenirs, camping gear, and almost anything else you could need during your stay. You also have the Date Grove Coffee and ‘Cream for light breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, and, most importantly, ice cream!

Then there’s the 1849 buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And the heart of the property is The Last Kind Words Saloon. Known for its steaks and bar, The Last Kind Words Saloon is a modern interpretation of an old Western saloon with delicious food and a fantastic atmosphere.

For golfers, there’s also the 19th Hole, an open-air restaurant known for its hamburgers and bar.

This resort is ideally located for you to marvel at Death Valley’s incredible rock formations and epic sunsets. The Ranch is next door to the National Park Visitor Center, and the resort is centrally located for most of the park’s best hikes, scenic drives, and attractions.

COVID-19 RESPONSE

The Oasis At Death Valley was more than just a luxurious and inviting place to stay. It was also a very safe place to stay. In response to COVID-19, the hotel is doing everything possible to keep its guests safe, informed, and apart while still providing excellent guest services and hospitality.

The Ranch has implemented physical distancing layouts in all common areas, is using the most up-to-date technology for cleaning and disinfecting, and is holding their guest accountable to follow all sanitary, safety, and social distancing protocols.

Travel has changed drastically. You have a lot more considerations now, and you have to do more research and planning, especially when it comes to your accommodation.

I would recommend The Oasis At Death Valley during any travel times, and I especially recommend it during COVID-19 because this resort is going above and beyond to accommodate and care for travelers.
