San Francisco is a must-visit destination on any trip to Northern California. Even if you’ve been here before, the eclectic city will always have more adventures, sights, and restaurants to entice you back.

During my first trip to San Francisco, I stayed in the InterContinental San Francisco. This high-rise, trendy hotel belongs to the IHG family, so you’re guaranteed a luxurious and fantastic stay.

Here’s my experience staying at the InterContinental San Francisco, the best hotel in the city!

The Hotel

This chic property features 550 guest rooms – most of which have stunning city views. The hotel also has a luxurious pool and jacuzzi, spa, a “party patio” on the sixth floor, and it’s located perfectly downtown.

A Condé Nast favorite, the InterContinental San Francisco is a perfect place to host an event or treat yourself for a couple of nights. This is also a pet-friendly hotel, so you can bring your furry friends along.

The overall atmosphere of the hotel is modern, and the amenities and features offer a trendy and sleek feel. This hotel was absolutely my style, and I didn’t have to go searching for great views of the city. I just had to look out my room’s two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows!

The Rooms

The InterContinental has a range of modern room options. There are double or king Standard rooms on the lower floors, or you can upgrade to the Class View rooms on the 14th – 24th floor for better views and deluxe amenities.

For the best city views, opt for the Premier View rooms on floors 25 – 30. And if you’re here for an extended stay or with a larger family, consider the Club, King Corner, and 2 Queen Beds rooms on the top floors for larger rooms with expanded seating room.

All of the rooms come with floor-to-ceiling windows, pristine bathrooms (many of which also with floor-to-ceiling windows), docking stations, plush bathrobes, mini-fridge, and electronic curtains (for that Instagram-worth video of you standing in a fantastic hotel room while your curtains open to reveal a stunning view).

Food & Drink

The InterContinental has a couple of dining options. There’s Bar 888, which offers fantastic cocktails, premium beers, wines, spirits, light bites, entrees, and desserts. At Bar 888, you can have an intimate and very refined lunch, dinner, or late-night drink.

But the InterContinental’s pride and joy is Luce, a Michelin-Starred restaurant ten years in a row. Luce is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it’s known for American cuisine with global twists, a nine-course tasting menu, and award-winning wine lists.

This hotel is also near some of the city’s best dining, so you’re within walking distance of almost any kind of food you could want.

The Location

Located in the SoMa district near Union Square, the InterContinental San Francisco is conveniently located near many of the city’s famous attractions. The hotel is just a short walk from Pier 7 (pictured above) and Pier 14 (two of my favorite Instagram spots in the city), the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and my favorite rooftop restaurant in the city, Charmaine’s.

The InterContinental also has easy access to public transportation around the city, and the hotel can help you rent bikes during your stay.
