February is the perfect month to travel! It’s after the holidays and before spring breaks, so accommodation, airfare prices, and crowds are usually relatively low in most parts of the world. So I’ve rounded up where to go on holiday in February!
Moth-By-Month Travel Guide
During this month, you can have a snow-filled Winter getaway or escape the cold to a warm destination. February is also when some of the world’s best celebrations take place.
Here’s where to go on holiday in February!
Kerala, India
Kerala is a state in Southern India that National Geographic calls one of the “50 must-see destinations of a lifetime.” Travel and Leisure has Kerala listed as “One of the 100 great trips for the 21st Century.”
Kerala has it all – beaches, backwaters, lakes, mountains, hiking, temples, and wildlife sanctuaries.
February is the end of the peak season, so it’ll seem like you have the canals and beaches to yourself. This month also has incredible weather with low humidity and little chance of rain.
Argentina
February is the end of Argentina’s peak season, so prices and tourist numbers will decrease throughout the month. Beaches and accommodations should have thinned out enough that you can find a chair by the pool or beach.
And you’ll still have great weather during this month, especially in Patagonia.
The end of February is when the famous Carnaval de Buenos Aires takes place. Late February is also when the Vendimia Festival takes place in Mendoza – the heart of Argentina’s wine country.
Finland
Finland will be your Winter Wonderland in February. This month sees some of the lowest crowds and prices while still being the peak-snow season.
You’ll want to visit the Finnish Lapland for snow sports. Fun alternatives for skiing are fat biking and taking the Ylläs Ski Resort sauna gondola. You’ll also have a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights in February.
The Laplands offer some fantastic snow glamping in igloo-like accommodations, which are well-worth the splurge!
Hawaii
Hawaii is a year-round destination, which means it’s an expensive destination. There are no actual off-season months in Hawaii, but February will have some of the lowest prices and crowd numbers all year because it’s after the holidays and before spring breaks. Visiting during this shoulder month is one of the best ways to visit Hawaii on a budget.
February is the peak season for humpback whale-watching, so you’ll have lots of opportunities to see these impressive gals. New Orleans
Get ready for one of the best parties of your life with Mardi Gras in New Orleans! Yes, it will be crazy, but this is an experience everyone should do at least once in their life.
The Ultimate New Orleans Foodie Guide
Book your hotel or vacation home and plan your activities well in advance to save some money and ensure availability.
If Mardi Gras seems outside of your budget, then staying in an RV (there are parks in and very near the city) can save you money to spend on the festivities.
South Africa
February is an excellent time for beaches, wine, and safaris in South Africa. It’s the end of summer, so prices and crowds will be less, but the weather will still be great. Cape Town and the Garden Route are particularly lovely this time of year.
You can experience grape harvesting during this month, so take advance of the many wineries, especially in Constantia Valley.
This is not peak season for a safari because wildlife can harder to spot. But lodge prices and tourist numbers will be much lower in the usually more crowded and pricer Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands.
South Africa is one of my Top Budget Destinations Around The World!
Singapore
Singapore is one of the best destinations to visit in February because this month is the sunniest and least humid month all year.
February is about a month before the Chinese New Year, but the city will already be set-up for the holiday. So you can enjoy the ambiance and decorations of the Chinese New Year without the crowds and prices.
The Bahamas
Trade white snow for white-sand beaches in The Bahamas in February. This is a peak travel month, but it’s usually the cheapest and least-crowded of the peak months from December – April.
The Best Things To Do in The Bahamas
This is the dry season, so there’s a low chance of rain. And the temperature is perfect, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 60s (17°C – 25°C).
If you get up early enough, you could even have most of a beach to yourself. And the already laid-back lifestyle of the islands becomes even more leisurely and slow-paced during this month. Exuma is my favorite destination in The Bahamas, and you should definitely try these local foods and drinks!

North American Ski Resorts
If you’re going to be in the United States or Canada in the Winter, I recommend visiting a ski resort or two. February has optimal skiing conditions and affordable prices compared to the holiday and spring break months.
In the Western U.S., you’ve got places like Aspen, Breckenridge, and Jackson in the Rockies. In the Northeast U.S., you’ve got Killington, Stowe, and Whiteface Mountain.
Then in Canada, you’ve got your choice of fantastic ski destinations throughout the country, from Whistler and Banff to Mont Tremblant and Lake Louise.
Rio de Janeiro
February is Carnival month in Brazil! You’re going to think Mardi Gras in New Orleans is tame compared to Carnival in Rio.
The city is overflowing with decorations, energy, music, parades, and never-ending street parties.
Carnival isn’t for the faint of heart, but it’s an incredible experience. Make sure you book your accommodations as far in advance as you can!
